Culprit Westlife REPEAT OFFENDER!
Title Hey Whatever
Year 2003

Westlife, doing a cover version – who'd have thought it? In fact, it's symptomatic of their "whitebread" approach to entertainment when you realise that they took a song with the very unusual chorus (and title) of "Rainbow Zephyr" and changed it to the astonishingly bland "Hey Whatever". But the main purpose of this offering is to let the public know that the Westlife boys know how to rock – they've got a ride cymbal and everything! Though rather than keep the comparatively raw sound of the original (by Relish), they've decided to make the music bland too.

Let's not forget, though, that if there's one way that Westlife know how to tackle blandness, it's the truck driver's gear change. So, predictably, once they've been through the chorus a few times, it's time to crank it up. I've had the misfortune to see the video for this on a number of occasions, and I do chuckle when it all stops, and one of them (I'm not a big enough fan to know which) sort of points sheepishly and then it all goes up. This new key then unleashes a bonanza of splashing around in the swimming pool on the part of the laydeez hired to prance about in their video.
