This pre-disco Bee Gees hit contains quite a few upwards movements, in particular before each chorus, creating the rather odd sensation of the choruses being in a different key to the rest of the song. But towards the end there's a more traditional gear-change-as-we-know-it, complete with an overblown string arrangement. It actually seems to surprise the singer (I can never remember which one is which when it comes to The Brothers Gibb), and it takes several bars before he can bring himself to make a generic oh-ahhh-ah-ah noise. The backing vocals, by contrast, seem to relish in the shift.
