| Culprit | The Beatles REPEAT OFFENDER! |
| Title | Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) |
| Year | 1967 |
| Written by | John Lennon and Paul McCartney |
| Submitted by | Dominic |
This is probably one of the Beatles' least offensive gear changes (the shift itself is fairly well disguised), and it is certainly less offensive than the brass-balls chord used on the offbeat at the start of the "reprise". It's tempting to forgive them because of the great guitar breaks which pepper the song (sorry about that pun), but it's important not to show leniency or it'll only encourage others.

This is one of the four truck driver's gear changes written by the Beatles (though they weren't averse to covering other people's, as "Take Good Care Of My Baby" indicates). In his article "A muso's introduction", Dominic Pedler discusses each one in turn, suggesting that they constitute examples of what you could call the "thinking man's gear change", rather than simply tired and unnecessary key shifts.
