I don't know much about Daniel Boone ("an English guy with a rustic American stage name", as submitter cubedoggy accurately puts it), except that this song made him a one-hit wonder. At various points it sounds suspiciously like "Stuck In The Middle" by Stealer's Wheel, which also appeared in 1972. What's particularly striking literally about "Beautiful Sunday" is the very resonant drum sound. It can't hide the vintage gear change though...

I'm fairly sure that this Daniel Boone is the same Daniel Boone who was partly responsible for Chelsea FC's pedestrian football anthem "Blue Is The Colour" from the same year.
Also, I should probably be careful about calling him a one-hit wonder, in light of the fact that Helen Shapiro recently threatened to sue Britain's Channel 4 for including her in a "Top Ten One-Hit Wonders" TV programme apparently she had two hits.
