This gender-swapping New Wave cover of Randy and the Rainbows' doo-wop hit "Denise" pretty much replicates the original truck driver's gear change, although it simplifies the build-up somewhat. Clem Burke's drumming machine-guns home the point before Debbie Harry randomly lapses into an ill-judged verse of French. I've yet to come across a cover version where someone decided to remove a gear change from the original.
